Erik Svane is a young Danish American who has been living in France for ten years. He's a
freelance journalist and he writes the scenarios of comic books.
Being the daily witness of anti-Americanism, notably in the media, makes him want to react.
He wrote many letters that were rarely published, not even in the 'letters to the editor'
section.
That's how "La Bannière Etalée" was born. Erik reacts with frankness, humor and boldness to
simple-minded, anti-American clichés. One by one he contradicts rampant and unfair attacks
against the United States of America in France and Europe. Far from making a pro-American
lampoon of the book, which he strongly refused to do, the author militates for a fair treatment of
information regarding the United States and other countries: that's double standards he's
after.
This book is full of information, historical and journalistic references, and should be read
by all anti-Americans, as well as America-lovers who will find it, without a doubt, both
amusing and refreshing.
Erik Svane has kindly accepted to talk to us about the subject. Don't miss the following interview!
